MEET THE TEAM
Martin Moran developed a love of the mountains from an early age and his passion for climbing would soon see him scaling some of the greatest faces of the Alps including the North Face of the Eiger.
Martin first met Joy, aged 18, working summer jobs in an outdoor shop in Newcastle, they were inseparable from word go and married just one year later.
After Martin completed a Geography degree at Cambridge, he and Joy would move to Sheffield where Martin embarked on a career as a Chartered Accountant.
With a shared love of the active outdoor lifestyle, spending all their weekends away climbing in the Peak District and Wales, it was in the winter of 1984-85 Martin & Joy left the city life behind in pursuit of a bigger dream....
MARTIN + JOY MORAN
Head of Experience
Hazel joined the family business in 2018 to focus on all things experience! Her expertise in web design, marketing and business strategy is bringing a fresh ideas and insight to the Moran Mountain team.
Brought up hiking, scrambling and climbing, Hazel (often reluctantly) learnt the ropes as a youngster and came to love the mountains. In 2013 she made her first ascent of Mont Blanc with her father Martin and she continues to love all things adventure - skiing, hiking and exploring the world with her husband.
Hazel is passionate about building upon her parents hard work and helping people get away from their busy lives into the great outdoors. Inspired to keep the Moran Mountain dream alive!
Alex honed his coaching and mentoring skills as a Mountain Instructor, learning the skills with his Dad then climbing with friends in Europe and the USA. He gained his MIC qualification in 2013 after qualifying as a Geography teacher in Glasgow. Alex has lived and worked in Majorca and Costa Rica and his love for the mountains prevails - it must run in the family!
Now based in the UK, Alex joins the Moran Mountain team whenever possible to get out of the classroom and teach in the mountains and has had the pleasure of leading our groups of climbers in the Indian Himalaya and Scottish hills, helping them achieve their goals and aspirations.
Passionate and personable - he proves a hit on the hill!
